Holistic Care

Trauma-Informed Care

Trauma-Informed Care is an approach to health care where organizations and providers consider how trauma impacts clients and aim to prevent re-traumatization. At Carnea Counseling, Trauma-Informed Care is integral to the therapeutic approach, as is communication, consistency, honesty, safety, collaboration, and empowerment. Improving systems and practices is a constant and valued practice.

Therapy Topics Beyond Grief

While grief and loss may be what leads you to seek therapy at Carnea Counseling, your loss doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Experiences in your past influence how you grieve and navigate loss in the present, which makes healing those old wounds an essential part of the therapeutic process. Stressors concurrent to your grief also need to be explored and processed in therapy so you can more safely navigate your loss outside of the therapeutic environment. No topic is off limits here. If there comes a point where my expertise no longer serves you, we will have a conversation about my limitations, the care you need and deserve, and potential referrals to providers with different specialties.
